Malcom's Acceptance Speech
by Peter Campbell
My loyal subjects,
I am pleased to stand in front of you today to reclaim my rightful place as King. Macbeth has been a threat to all the people of this nation and this nation’s security; but no more. I am taking control of Scotland and I will do everything in my power to right the wrongs Macbeth has caused and to prevent anything like his tyranny from ever happening again. I urge my thanes and earls who have fled Macbeth’s wrath to come back home. You are all safe now and have nothing to fear. You will be greatly rewarded for not supporting Macbeth and giving me your support.
However, all who have supported Macbeth beware, your end is near. I will find everyone who abetted Macbeth and his actions and bring them to justice. Know that you will never be safe in Scotland again. I will find every last one of you traitorous rebels until I have all your heads. I am not out on a personal vendetta against Macbeth, though. I wish to restore peace and justice in this land. I do not want to rule a nation divided, but rather one that has overcome an enemy and is living in harmony under me. A peaceful and prosperous nation is what I wish Scotland to become. With your help I hope to accomplish this quickly so that we are able to live better off than we lived under Macbeth.
As your King I vow to protect all of my just subjects and bring the unjust ones to justice. I will right all the wrongs Macbeth has done to my kingdom. Fear not, for I will be no such ruler as Macbeth. I shall be wise in my decisions, brave in my actions and just in my punishments. Under Macbeth Scotland was crumbling apart, on the brink of an irreparable civil war. Thanks to my loyal generals, that is no longer the case. We have achieved a glorious victory, one that shall not be for naught. Scotland shall restore its former glory with me as its King.
